A Simple Way to Celebrate Fall

A Simple Way to Celebrate Fall

Posted by Lauren Markwell on

Looking for a screen-free way to enjoy the crisp fall weather with your kids? This Fall Nature Scavenger Hunt is the perfect outdoor activity, no prep required! Just grab a basket, step outside, and let your little ones explore.

How It Works

Head to your backyard, a nearby park, or your favorite walking trail. Invite your kids to use their senses to discover the sights, sounds, and textures that make this season so magical.

Encourage them to look for things like:
🍂 Leaves in different colors and shapes
🌰 Acorns, pinecones, or seed pods
🌾 Something soft, like moss or a feather
🪵 A stick with a funny shape
🐿️ Something an animal might eat (like a nut or berry)
🌻 Something that smells like fall

Let your child collect a few treasures in a small basket or bag, or simply point them out and talk about what they notice.

Extend the Fun

Create a Fall Display: Lay your finds on a table or tray for a beautiful, nature-inspired centerpiece.

Make a Nature Collage: Arrange your leaves and treasures on paper and glue them down to make a piece of art.

Sensory Play: Use your finds for an easy fall sensory bin, add leaves, pinecones, and acorns for hands-on exploration.

Pack a Picnic

After your scavenger hunt, spread out a blanket and enjoy a little fall picnic! Bring along your favorite cozy snacks and drinks, apple slices, trail mix, warm cider, or sandwiches  and pack them in your WeeSprout Stainless Steel Nesting Bento Set, Stainless Steel Storage Containers, Dip Containers or stainless steel drinking and storage cups for an eco-friendly meal on the go. Dont forget your snack cup!

Pair them with a thermos for hot cocoa or tea, and you’ve got the perfect way to wrap up your outdoor adventure, no screens, no rush, just simple family fun in nature.

Why Kids Love It

This open-ended scavenger hunt lets kids lead the way and explore at their own pace. It encourages curiosity, creativity, and connection with nature, plus, it’s 100% eco-friendly and free!
